The actual lighthouse was first lit in 1874, replacing a stone tower erected in 1683, which fell into the sea 6 years after the new lighthouse was lit. The tower is located on the north end of Anastasia Island in St. Augustine, Florida and is distinguished by it's large diagonal bands of alternating black & white. |
