Santa’s gone coastal — and he brought sequins.

This holiday display doesn’t sit quietly in the background. It shimmers, it sparkles, and it has more than a little personality.
A glittering coral tree crowned with a starfish rises from a base of clam shells and treasures from the tide. Coral sprays in aqua, ivory, and copper fan outward, catching the light at every angle. Sequined fish dart between branches, while a mer-Santa and his pearly seahorse companion keep watch with a wink.
The result is a coastal Christmas scene that feels alive, layered, and impossible to ignore.

How It Comes Together

At its core, the design is simple: start with a glitter tree as the anchor and top it with a starfish to set the coastal tone. Surround it with coral sprays in champagne, aqua, and coral so the tree feels framed and full of movement. Add jeweled fish to bring shimmer and energy, then give the whole scene a focal character — in this case, a whimsical Santa with his seahorse sidekick. Finally, finish the base with clam shells and starfish so the look feels natural and complete.
The magic comes from how these elements layer together. The tree glitters. The coral stretches upward. The characters add personality. And the shell details tie everything back to the shore.
Why It Stands Out

What makes this display so special is the way it balances presence, texture, and playfulness:
- Presence: With its height and layered coral sprays, it draws the eye even from across the room. This isn’t filler décor — it’s a showpiece.
- Texture: Glitter, sequins, pearl, shells, and coral finishes combine into a dimensional mix that keeps the eye moving. There’s always another sparkle or detail waiting to be noticed.
- Playfulness: The fish ornaments, the seahorse, and that unforgettable mer-Santa shift the whole look from pretty to memorable. It’s the kind of detail that sparks conversations and brings smiles.
A Holiday Display Guests Remember

More than anything, this piece tells a story. Guests don’t just glance at it — they pause, they lean in, they notice the details. It makes an impression, and it lingers.
Because when you bring the sea indoors for the holidays, you don’t have to play small. You can go bold, go sparkling, and let your focal point be the thing people remember long after the lights come down.
Quick-Start Setup Guide

This look comes together by anchoring coral sprays into drilled wood discs, then layering in the tree, garland, ornaments, and starfish to create a dimensional reef-inspired holiday display.
- Prep Your Coral Reef Sprays
- Use two 5" wood discs as anchors. Drill two holes in each (3" apart left-to-right, 2.25" apart front-to-back).
- Left disc: Back left = 5/16" bit, ¾" deep for sand-colored coral. Front right = 1/4" bit, ¾" deep for aqua seaweed.
- Right disc: Back left = 5/16" bit, ¾" deep for copper fan coral. Front right =5/16" bit, ¾" deep for aqua coral.
- Place the sprays into the holes, securing with hot glue if loose.
- Lay the Foundation
Spread light blue iridescent organza as your base fabric — this creates a soft, ocean-glow backdrop for the whole display. - Anchor the Tree
Stack a 5" wood disc on top of a 7" wood disc to create a sturdy riser, then position the glitter coral tree in the center. - Weave the Garland
Drape clam shell garlands across the two coral spray discs. Let them cross naturally, and use the largest shell at each end to “cap” the runs for a finished look. - Hang the Ornaments
Shorten ornament hanger loops by tying them off as needed, then hang jeweled fish, sea-Santa, & pearl seahorse on the sand and aqua sprays. - Place the Starfish
Tuck one 5" and two 4" starfish among the clam shells at the base for texture and balance. - Top It Off
Secure a 4" starfish to the top of the glitter tree using hot glue or craft wire — the perfect coastal crown.
The result: a layered, sparkling coastal focal point with shimmer, character, and plenty of guest-stopping detail.
