Looking to sail through the holiday season with a fresh twist? Look no further!
Let’s dive into creating this splashy centerpiece that balances nautical charm and holiday glamour.

Two sailboats immediately evoke a maritime theme and make the display feel dynamic, as if the table is an ocean with boats gliding across it.
Blue, teal, and silver Christmas ornaments mimic the look of ocean waves, with a variety of textures & sizes adding depth and movement to the scene.
A sea-glass Christmas tree sits between the two sailboats, lending an elegant holiday touch and enhancing the coastal feel.

- Metallic silver spray paint
- Silver satin fabric/tablecover
Chart the Course

- This piece will have your guests talking—and it's easier to make than you think!
- The first step is to layout the sailboats, ornament, & tree pedestal to determine size.
- Use the 3/8" square dowels to corral the ornaments into place.
- We made our ornament ocean 48" x 14" including the dowel border.
- Ornament colors: Teal, blue, & silver
- Finishes: Matte, shiny, & glitter
- Sizes: 100mm, 80mm, & 60 mm
- Shatterproof plastic looks like glass & won't break
- For our 48" x 14" ocean, we used 76 ornaments: 7 @ 100mm, 37 @ 80mm, 32 @ 60mm.
Tame the Tide

- Amazingly, a tiny 3/8" sea wall is all it takes to keep those ornaments neatly in place.
- For a 48" x 14" rectangle, cut one 36" square dowel into:
- 13.25 inches
- 12 inches
- 10.75 inches is left over
- Then, repeat with a second 36" dowel.
Assemble the Parts

- To assemble the rectangular ornament corral, first paint the square dowel sections True Blue.
- Glue the 13.25" sections between the ends of two 14" sections & two 36" sections to make each end.
- Use Velcro on the inner-facing sides to hold the two ends together once in place on the table.
Trimming the Tree

- Make a shiny silver rock pedestal for the beach glass Christmas tree with three 3-4" wide birch wood disk slices.
- Sand each wood disk, then paint metallic silver.
- Wood disks make versatile risers & bases for any occasion.
Set the Scene

- Start off with the soft shimmer of silver satin as a table cover.
- Position the rectangle corral ends in the center of the table, then Velcro together to keep in place.
- Stack the silver wood disks with the Christmas tree on top, then add the mounted sailboats to each side.
- Complete the scene with ornaments to fill the corral, varying sizes, textures, and colors.
Guest Experience

- Tie it all together with white napkins and alternating blue & turquoise bead necklaces as napkin rings to mimic the centerpiece baubles.
- Metallic bead necklaces make elegant napkin rings, then another delightful surprise as guests take their seats.
After-Holiday Sail

- This centerpiece is easily adapted for any nautical, beach, or coastal themed event.
- Simply replace the Christmas Tree & wood disks with a whale's tail.
Be bold, dare to be different, and embrace your creativity to create distinctive centerpieces that make an impression.
