Height & Interest
- To add depth and dimension to our display, we start with an unfinished wood crate.
- Paint with 2 coats of whitewash enhancer.
- No need to wipe between coats, just let dry.
Distress Crate
- Give it a worn, weathered look by sanding the surface leaving patches of paint behind.
- Paint the sanded surface with weathered gray stain.
- After 2-3 minutes, wipe off excess stain with a dry cloth.
- One coat is just right to look like distressed wood.
Floral Elements
- Capture the essence of a farmhouse garden with a floral arrangement to anchor the centerpiece.
- Start with the picket fence planter & plastic insert (included).
- Add floral foam to a low-profile container for the arrangement.
- I used a square votive candle holder.
- Fill the space around the holder to keep it in place.
- I used red bead necklaces to match the napkin rings.
- Trim the stems to fit for 1 floral spray each of white sunflowers, red sunflowers, forsythia, & clematis.
- Arrange the flowers using a crisscross pattern in the floral foam.
Lay the Foundation
- Begin with a black & white buffalo check table covering as a base.
- This classic pattern sets a quaint, country vibe & serves as a versatile backdrop.
- Place the red table runner down the center of the table.
- This bold splash of color not only adds visual interest but also ties together the various elements of the centerpiece.
Set the Scene
- Arrange the wood crate & flower arrangement for a visually pleasing flow.
- Evenly space the faux chickens for a balanced look.
- Place windmills & wood birch slices symmetrically on each side.
- Easily expand & contract your centerpiece by adjusting the windmill positions.
- Alternatively, use the same floral elements to create accent arrangements in mini milk bottles, mason jars, or tin cans to place on the wood slices.
- Weave a garland of bells & barnstars for a festive finishing-touch.
Guest Experience
- Add cohesion with napkins to mimic the white & red chickens at each place setting.
- Fold the napkins in a "fan fold for napkin rings" to reflect the chicken feathers.
- Wrap red bead necklaces around the center fold to mimic the red chicken comb & wattles.
- Lay gold flatware to complement the earthy tones & rustic accents of the centerpiece.
- Finally, take a seat and assess the experience from your guest's point of view.
Reverse View
- Adjust as necessary for more country charm from the reverse side.
Focal Point
- This arrangement also makes a captivating focal point for entryways and vignettes.
- A 25" Weathered Windmill will add height and dimension to create a stand-alone display.
