Q: Does the windmill rotate with the wind and change directions accordingly?

A: The windmill blades do turn in the wind. The top piece screws in, so it does not spin to change directions.

A: Although the blades and the vane do turn, I tried it in front of a fan, and the wind was not strong enough to turn them.

Q: Is assembly required?

A: There is some assembly required. The blades of the windmill come separate and can just be slipped on its mount.
