Designing A Deep-Sea Diving Centerpiece

Play it safe or go all-in with a deep-sea diving centerpiece that's bound to make a splash!

• To create this deep sea diving table scene, we'll start with the centerpiece.
• First, paint the floral foam top & sides to match the hydrangeas.
• We used Ultramarine Blue acrylic paint mixed with a little water.
• Adding water will make it easier to cover the porous foam.
• Let dry.

• Build structure with the centerpiece base, floral foam, & 2-inch riser.
• Secure elements with Velcro or hot glue.
• Top with the Diver's Helmet.
• Insert blue hydrangea heads around top edge of floral foam disk.
• We used 8 artificial hydrangea heads cut from 2 bushes of 5 heads each.
• If you prefer, substitute real hydrangea for the artificial.

• Cut multiple pieces of each of these floral sprays to build the coral reef on each side:
• Glittered Fan-Coral Spray - Coral
• Sequined Metallic Aqua Fern Leaf Spray
• Glittered Branch Coral Spray - Aqua
• Glittered Branch Coral Spray - Sand/Natural
• Glittered Seagrass Pick - Green
• Arrange floral spray pieces and protea flowers around the center.

• Position coral fern fronds in the rear, offset from the center of the display.
• Mount the coral foam angelfish onto the fluttering silver sequins spray to simulate shimmering bubbles.
• Insert into floral foam in the front, offset from the center, opposite fern fronds.

• To hold the fish in place and at the correct angle, clip off the bottom branch of the sequin spray.
• Use this separate piece of stem to hold the fish in position..
• With the bottom of the stem pointing up, bend the wire to make an L-shape for the fish mount.
• Bind the mount to the main stem of the sequin spray with the attached sequin wire and/or floral wire.
• Use a sharp object to make a small hole in the bottom of the angelfish, slightly angled toward the tail.
• Adjust and glue the angelfish onto the L-shaped wire mount.

• This centerpiece is well-suited for round tables, but can easily be adapted for rectangular surfaces.
• Position the deep sea diving display in the center of silver satin or glittered tulle as a runner over a crisp, white base.
• For rectangular tables, use 10-inch white coral chunks on each side of the diver's helmet display to extend the centerpiece.

• Mimic fan-coral shapes with white napkins in a standing-fan fold on silver chargers.
• Accent with individual fan-corals clipped from the glittered coral spray.
• Then, add stems cut from the sequined aqua fern spray.
• Finally, take a seat and assess the experience from your guest's point of view.
• Too formal? Replace the chargers & white napkins with silver or light gray napkins.
