Make Clouds

- Transform any table into a lively Independence Day regatta in a few simple steps.
- For an unexpected touch, incorporate fluffy clouds to add dimension and delight your guests.
- To make each cloud cut a 1" x 1" x 4" section of white craft foam for the center.
- Optionally, make a cylinder shape by shaving off the corners.
- Cut chunks of polyfill and hot glue to the foam center.
- Add layers, varying thickness and filling in gaps, to create a cloud shape.
- Shake the cloud and let the polyfill fall into place for a natural look.
- Make three clouds and three associated wire supports.
Cloud Supports

- To float the clouds, we'll use a 14-gauge (or heavier) wire support in a 12" Eiffel tower vase (or similar).
- Cut a length of wire 28-30 inches, then cut down to desired height after straightening.
Straighten & Paint

- To straighten the wire, secure one end of the wire in a vise.
- If you don't have a vise, attach the wire to a stationary object.
- Chuck the other end of the wire into a drill.
- Turn on the drill at slow or moderate speed.
- Keep tension on the wire while it is spinning.
- Spin until straight and remove.
- Sand & paint each wire support with matte black paint to reduce visibility.
Fill Vases

- Insert the straightened wire into the Eiffel tower vase and fill with white pearl bead necklaces.
- Necklaces make better vase fill because they won't spill and scatter.
- If necessary, cut the necklaces into strands.
- Add the wood American Flag cutout to the vase and secure to the cloud support.
- Adjust the wire height as needed, then hot glue the cloud's foam center to the wire support.
Assemble Centerpiece

- Anchor the display with a lighthouse centerpiece, as the guiding beacon of the table.
- Cut floral foam blocks to fit the American Flag planter.
- Hot glue two 3-4" diameter birch wood disc slices to the center.
- Surround the base with snippets of white Queen Anne's Lace to create the illusion of a coastal shoreline.
- Glue the lighthouse to the birch slice platform when ready to set the centerpiece.
Lay Foundation

- This sailing regatta table scene works well as an event focal point or dinner table centerpiece.
- Start with a visually striking red & white striped table cover.
- Lay a blue table runner or fabric down the center.
- The runner will be covered by the tulle, so wrinkles won't be visible.
- Satin will add a subtle sheen to mimic the sparkle of sunshine on the water.
Set the Scene

- Create a dynamic regatta scene where the sailboats appear to float on the undulating waves of tulle.
- Cover the blue runner with blue tulle fabric, folding it into eight layers that match the runner's size.
- Place the American Flag planter in the center of the table.
- Position Eiffel tower vases with flags & clouds to each side of the centerpiece.
- Arrange sailboats on the blue tulle and cut openings through all 8 layers of tulle for each boat & tower vase.
- Insert the vases & sailboat mounts into the fabric openings to cover with the tulle layers.
- The faintly visible sailboat mounts beneath the tulle will resemble reflections on the water's surface.
- Secure the third cloud and wire support in the flag planter centerpiece.
- This table scene is designed to look essentially the same from both sides of the table.
- Note: For a centerpiece, consider replacing the 25" sailboat with a shorter option to maintain an unobstructed view across the table.
Guest Experience

- Tie the centerpiece scene to the place settings with bold, royal blue napkins folded into elegant bows.
- Secure napkins with white pearl bead necklaces for an added delight.
Engage & delight your guests by incorporating movement, depth, and varying heights into your table decorating.
