Preparation
- Soak gel beads in water for 4 to 8 hours in one bucket to simplify the process.
- Scoop out the gel beads as needed for each vase.
- Rinse all vase items well to keep the water clear.
- Don't forget to remove the tags on the bottom of each turtle.
Vase Styling
- Start with a base of clear or colored acrylic ice rocks in each glass vase.
- Assemble your arrangement from bottom to top in 6-8 inch sections.
- Add gel beads, then position elements like sea turtles in each section.
- Add water to the vase to view the section & make adjustments.
- Use a metal skewer or similar to reposition elements in lower sections.
- Clear any trapped air bubbles as you work your way up.
- Note: Keep water level just below tops of the gel beads to prevent items from floating.
Underwater Effect
- Create an underwater ocean effect with curtain lights.
- Begin with a background of turquoise satin fabric on a wall or frame.
- String LED curtain lights over the satin to simulate underwater lighting.
- Cover this setup with 3-4 layers of tulle in different colors to add depth & texture.
- I used green, light blue, and glittered turquoise tulle here.
Ocean Table Base
- Start with a rich blue satin as the base layer for the table.
- Cover the center with unevenly scrunched glittered aqua tulle.
- Add a layer of dark blue tulle to intensify the oceanic feel.
- Finish the outer edge of the table with draped and gathered purple tulle.
Set the Scene
- Place the glass vase arrangement in the center of the table as the focal point.
- Decoratively scatter seashells around the vase to enhance the marine theme.
- Include sealife votive candle holders with teal LED lights to mimic underwater luminescence.
