Build Elevated Stand

- To create this tribute to the world of music, start with the centerpiece.
- Set upon a 13" circular mirror base, the elevated platform is supported by 4 matching taper candle holders, 11" tall.
- Taper candle holders make great centerpiece supports because they are...
- Available in a variety of matching styles & sizes,
- Typically have a weighted base,
- Always include a 7/8" opening in the top.
- We used minimalist-styled 11-inch silver metal candlesticks.
- For stability, construct a simple wooden frame from a 3/8" square dowel to fit into the four candlesticks.
Cut Dowel Sections

- Two 3/8" square dowels fit vertically in the 7/8" candlestick opening, perfectly.
- To construct a 6.25" x 6.25" square frame, cut a 36-inch dowel into 12 sections:
- 8 pegs to fit candlestick openings, 1-1/8" or less
- 2 sides @ 5-1/2 inches
- 2 sides @ 6 inches
- Candle holder opening depths can vary, so be sure to measure them before cutting pegs.
- The easiest way is to insert two sections of the 3/8" dowel into the opening and mark with a pencil, then add 1/4 inch for the cut.
- Glue a peg (vertical) to the end of each side (horizontal) section.
- Ensure that the top of the peg & side sections are flush along the top.
Glue Wooden Frame

- When dry, test fit, then glue the 4 sides together.
- This will keep the candlesticks aligned and fixed in position to prevent shifting.
Paint & Assemble

- For the mirror base:
- Hide the laurel leaf string lights battery case in plain sight by painting it glossy black as a base for the harp.
- Wrap the string lights around the candlestick supports.
- Optionally, anchor the candlesticks with museum putty.
- For the elevated platform:
- Paint the wooden frame glossy black.
- Glue two vinyl records together for extra strength.
- Then, glue or Velcro the frame to the center of the double-record.
Set the Stage

- Secure harp on the black battery case with Velcro.
- Use museum putty or Velcro to hold treble clef centerpiece in place on platform.
